Hello there.

Daniel Kooper here. For all of you runners out there looking to increase their run speed, I have a really awesome guide to recommend. But before that, I want to share a little bit of my running experience with you.

I have been an athlete all my life – I have practiced martial arts since age 10, have competed in sports like swimming, football, baseball, and even soccer. During high school, I was on the track team for 3 years and since then have always enjoyed running and perfecting my technique.

I always had trouble with the 200M dash.

I was never good at short sprinting now matter how much I trained. No matter how much I worked to develop my strength, I was always left behind in peoples dusts who simply ‘got it’. I went to many personal running coaches to help improve my sprint but never really improved besides for a few extra seconds shaved off my 200m.

One of my friends who always beat me recommended me something…

On his wayLuckily I have a good friend who is also an avid track runner and he suggested that I try Barry Ross’s training methods. Barry is a well respected running coach with over 20 years of coaching experience…and let me tell you…he definitely knows what he is doing. In his book Underground Secrets to Faster Running, he teaches some really sweet training techniques that I have helped me shave close to 10 seconds off my 200M time.

The problem with me is that I was doing all the wrong things to train to run faster. If you want to learn some really effective training techniques and tips, I highly recommend you check out his book here.

If getting faster is your goal, then there are some very real ways to make that happen. Many athletes don’t realize that with proper run faster training, you can actually knock a great deal of time off of your 40-yard dash. There is a correct way to run, in order to maximize your body’s strength and limit the amount of extra work that your body has to do. So what are these techniques and tips to get faster?

Plyometric training is crucial.

One of the best things that you can do to get faster is to go through a plyometric training routine. That means putting your legs through the gauntlet in terms of strength and conditioning. These workouts could include jumping rope or other sorts of fast-twitch jumping exercises. The idea is to build explosiveness within your legs, because that is what will give you the best chance to post a lower 40-yard dash time. Explosiveness out of the box will help you reach top speed more quickly. It’s this type of run faster training that the top athletes in the world rely upon.

Develop the right lean.

It isn’t all about training, though. Getting stronger and more explosive will certainly help, but if you want real run faster training, you’ll need proper technique. The fastest runners in the world recognize that you have to have the proper amount of body lean in order to be more aerodynamic. You have to push forward, because running upright means that you’re fighting too many external factors. You will end up fighting the win and it will require way too much energy. In addition to that, the best runners make sure that they going in a straight line. They have efficient movements, so their arms and extremities aren’t a detriment.

Making modifications to your workout schedule so that you exercise your entire body is an excellent approach to building up your abilities. You must try dedicating at least one workout during the week to hills or by using a flight of steps. Using stairs or hills for running will give you twice the workout, thus twice the effect on your body. This will drive your body weight up hills or steps, strengthening the muscles in your lower body. Run as hard as you can up the staircase or the hill in order to finish a workout. Once you reach the bottom, this will give you time to recover and sprint to the top once more.

A lot of your power is in the very last extension.

The first time that you manage to close this workout, you should only attempt completing three or four more runs. As you acquire greater strength, you should be able to do up to ten sprints in all. Having good ankle joint extending ability will be needed in order to run properly. This will add to the power of the initial launch. The more that you are able to spread yourself, the better you will run. Hold your knee just barely positioned for the maximization of launch power while you run. A straight leg end will just end in more of a jump, and you don’t want to waste your energy like that.

Always remember to stretch before and after your workout.

Stretching is also a very important aspect to this sport. Overdoing things could cause your muscles to become too tight, which will in turn increase the chances of receiving injury. Also, remember to eat right. Staying in shape and feeling good are both just as important as the other. If you begin to feel tired and start to lean forward during your running routine, you know that’s the time to stop for the day. After you have lost the ability to retain the proper poise, you risk injury. Please stop for the day if you experience any pain while exercising. Spend some time everyday stretching the muscles of your appendages and other main parts of your body to ensure the best possible experience.

If you want to run faster, then you need to understand the basics of power and efficiency. The best runners in the world are fast because of their natural ability, but that’s not all. These people also get ahead because of the fact that they run efficiently. There is no wasted movement in their running. If you want run faster training that can help you get ahead, then you will want to practice being more efficient. Lost power often comes when you are using your arms and hands too much by running. These things should only be used in a straight line and you should limit their movement.

Always train for explosiveness rather than strength.

Likewise, the best run faster training will help runners become more explosive. Though you don’t often think about speed in terms of power, the two things go hand in hand. Those runners that attack the track or attack the field have a chance to become 20% faster. It’s about explosiveness and there are some things that you can do to make sure that you’re maximizing that ability. One of those things is through stride training.

Increase your stride.

As a runner, you have to be looking for ways to lengthen your stride. This type of run faster training is something that can be done completely on your own. Because your legs aren’t likely to be growing in the near future, you’ll have to expand your stride through a concerted effort. When you practice sprinting, try to stretch out as far as possible. Make sure that each step is longer than the one before. One way to make this easier is to pick out a point on a field and aim for that. Though you won’t reach your point with every step, you’ll be expanding your stride and making yourself much faster in the process.
